soprano? tenor?
alto? bass?
or the cliche common baritone
if you’re wondering what these are,
honestly they are most of our life savers.
heroes for us without even knowing.
they do this for their happiness,
but along the way they save a lot of lives too.
fine, i’ll kill the suspense haha, i mean you already know it from the title haha.
it’s music.
we all love music.
I believe music is a part of our life.
let me ask you a question.
do you have that one song that lingers around and stays with you longer than you anticipated?
that one song.
it calms you.
it could make you mad.
it kills you.
you feel every single emotion with that one song.
that one song not only becomes attached to you,
but it learns your story in different versions.
your love.
your hatred.
your pain.
your scars.
your happiness.
your late night drives.
have you ever just sat there and wondered why a song is so attached to you?
you might not even know why.
but every time you hear it, you tear up.
sometimes from happiness.
sometimes from sadness.
but whatever It is,
it’s your emotion.
your song.
and on the other side, you have something called “our song”.
yes, I have an “our song”.
but I don’t have that person beside me anymore.
yet that one song takes me back to the old days.
the happiness I had.
the feeling I had.
the feeling is so strong that one verse alone could rip you apart.
all the good memories come flooding back,
while reminding you that you don’t have those moments anymore.
sometimes it’s not just one song.
sometimes it’s one song for one emotion.
yes, they overlap.
but somehow they still speak to you.
the person sings to you.
the music heals you.
there are days I listen to music and just cry.
I don’t even know why sometimes.
but I know it was needed.
you need to feel lighter somehow.
every time something is wrong and it shows on your face,
people ask,
“are you okay?”
and if they’re close to you, they keep repeating it.
sometimes that only adds frustration on top of the heavy feeling you already had.
music.
one thing that speaks to us and makes us feel better without asking a single question.
it’s almost magic.
it knows how hurt you are,
and somehow it speaks to you like everything is going to be okay.
have you ever thought about how a stranger’s voice can calm you down so much?
to a point where they understand you better than the person standing right beside you?
the world has become a place where nobody truly has time for each other anymore.
music became everyone’s safe place.
maybe that’s why so many of us disappear into headphones instead of conversations.
this is my safe place, so let me tell you one of my secrets.
why do I always have at least one airpod in my ear?
why is there always music running in the background?
you know why?
distraction.
your inner demons torture you to a point where you can barely enjoy peace.
there are times I yearn for quietness.
but unfortunately, my mind can’t afford THat.
music explains me.
my feelings.
sometimes better than words ever could.
do you ever randomly start imagining things while listening to a song?
“oh I’d dance to this with my best friend.”
“oh I’d dance to this at my best friend’s wedding.”
“oh I’d walk down the aisle to this.”
or even darker thoughts.
“what if I lose someone while this song is playing?”
“what if one day this song becomes a memory instead of just music?”
it hurts.
you cry.
you grieve.
you weep.
and sometimes the scariest part is when those thoughts actually happen.
that’s torture.
that’s a kind of pain I would never wish on anyone.
but somehow that pain forces you to grow up.
it makes you mature.
it makes you stronger.
it leaves you broken too.
yet music becomes the remedy that slowly stitches you back together.
the pain slowly turns into memory.
and suddenly “our song” that once destroyed you…
now gives you life again.
it makes you smile.
it speaks to you.
music cares.
honestly, I love exploring different kinds of music.
different languages.
different sounds.
different emotions.
soft emotional music.
Rnb.
afro rhythms.
uk rap.
country.
spanish music.
French music.
tamil.
hindi.
English.
different voices.
different cultures.
same feelings.
maybe that’s why music will always be part of humanity.
because somehow music speaks a language that’s universal.
my world is music.
and yes, I do have my one song.
actually… multiple “one songs”.
one for each emotion.
so tell me,
what’s that one song for you?
the one that stayed.
the one that knows every version of you.
